CWR Receives Six 2019 NAPA Awards

C.W. Roberts Contracting, Inc. (CWR) was awarded at the 2019 National Asphalt Pavement Association conference held in Marco Island, Florida. CWR received six awards within the Quality in Construction award program, in which recognized quality of service within the asphalt paving industry.

NAPA awarded the following projects in which delivered noteworthy performance and safety to the traveling public:

  • SR 10 in Jefferson County, Florida. CWR worked with the Florida Department of Transportation and this project consisted of resurfacing, drainage, sidewalk, guardrail, signing and pavement markings, paved shoulders, and minor drainage.
  • SR 267 in Gadsden County, Florida. CWR worked with the Florida Department of Transportation and this project consisted milling, resurfacing, widening, drainage, and guardrail upgrades. The company used a high-polymer binder in the asphalt mixes to prevent rutting and cracking on this high-traffic roadway.
  • SR 10 in Crestview, Florida. CWR worked with the Florida Department of Transportation and this project consisted of milling, resurfacing, drainage, loop assembly, signing and pavement markings, and adjusting valve boxes and manholes. The company worked at night between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. to minimize disruption to traffic and to businesses on this heavily-traveled, four-lane road. CWR Contracting used a material transfer vehicle and sonic skis to produce a smooth / high-quality pavement.
  • SR 10 in Carville, Florida. CWR worked with the Florida Department of Transportation and this project consisted of milling, resurfacing, signing and pavement markings, manhole and valve box adjustments, and pedestrian signals. The company paid strict attention to best management practices while working on this rural two-lane road. CWR Contracting produced a high-quality road with little disruption to traffic. It used a material transfer vehicle and sonic skis to build a smooth pavement for area motorists.
  • SR 391 in Panama City, Florida. CWR worked with the Florida Department of Transportation and this project consisted of milling, resurfacing, drainage, loop assembly, signing and pavement markings, and adjusting valve boxes and manholes. CWR used a high polymer asphalt mix to reduce cracking and rutting, the company milled the road and then placed an overlay.
  • Tampa Bay Airport Taxiway in Brooksville, Florida. CWR worked with Hernando County and this project consisted of rehabilitation of the Taxiway B, mobilization, milling, resurfacing, shoulder regrading, erosion control and sedimentation prevention, paving, taxiway marking, sodding, and lighting. The phasing of this reconstruction project required exact planning to help minimize the impact to airport travelers. In all, 4,970 tons of asphalt was used.
