POSITION SUMMARY:
The Accountant is responsible for assisting with controlling and executing all matters relating to the administrative and accounting functions. This position includes accounting goals, the plans to meet those goals, working with other employees as necessary, and the follow-up required to ensure the department is moving forward at all times as directed by the Senior Vice President. This is a full-time position and reports to the Accounting Manager.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepare and analyze financial KPIs, flash reports, weekly and monthly financial data.
Routinely analyze revenues and expenses to ensure they are recorded appropriately.
Assist with review of financial packages and supporting schedules according to monthly close schedule.
Ensure that all company policies and procedures are adhered to.
Perform analysis on historical data and build the models.
Analyze company forecasts based on the historical data and trends.
Assist in compiling information for month end, quarter end and annual reporting, as required.
Participate in the review and consolidation of the annual budgets.
Prepare monthly consolidated backlog analysis, identify and research variances, monitor additional projects and their impact on the backlog.
Monitor and review Capital Expenditures.
Provide support with cash flow analysis.
Assist in documentation and monitoring of internal controls
Maintain and increase knowledge in the accounting software.
Ensure the confidentiality of all Company records and documents.
Assist with special projects assigned by management.
Performs other duties and projects as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Extensive knowledge of accounting and financial reporting methods, specifically in the construction industry (WIP).
Must be able to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline driven environment.
Marked ability to analyze and respond to situational problems.
Considerable skill in problem solving, conflict resolution and dealing with confidential information/situations
Proven ability to deal with the stresses of meeting deadlines and company goals.
Must be able to do business calculations; complete reports with statistical data and mathematical relationships; perform quickly and accurately all computations related to accounting.
Intermediate to advanced experience with MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook or similar programs.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer service focus.
Ability to act and operate independently with minimal daily direction from manager to accomplish objectives.
Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees and management to maximize performance, creativity, problem solving, and results.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance and/or management preferred.
A minimum of three years of experience in accounting. Experience with a mid-size to large construction company is preferred.
Possess computer knowledge and experience with Excel. Additional custom reporting tools and construction accounting program (i.e. JDE) is preferred.
Strong understanding of accounting theory.
Highly detail oriented and organized in work.
Ability to meet assigned deadlines.
